City of Euclid Web Site Wins WebAward
September 13, 2005
CLEVELAND, September 13, 2005 - The City of Euclid Web Site (www.cityofeuclid.com), designed and developed by WRIS, received a "Standard of Excellence" award in the "Regional" category of the Web Marketing Association's ninth annual WebAward Competition for website development.
Euclid is a city rich in history, tradition, and diversity. Strong neighborhoods, excellent city services and recreation programs, mixed with a well-respected business base are just some of the many aspects of the community that make it a great place to live, work and play.
The award-winning web site was developed specifically for the residents of Euclid to serve as a well-organized source of valuable community information. Interactive features such as a categorized calendar of events, online surveys, newsletter sign ups, updateable news features, downloadable forms and permits and archived city council minutes were designed to encourage community involvement, improve communication and increase convenience.
To ensure site content remains current, a permission-based content management system was developed to make updating time-sensitive information quick and easy. The end result is a site that not only provides convenience to current residents, but also allows prospective residents and businesses to discover the benefits of moving to Euclid.
One judge from the WebAward competition commented that the site was "one of the best sites for a city he's ever seen. It is very easy to navigate and easy to find the information you need if you were a resident. The interactive forms and calendars work well. Overall, it has a pleasant, clean look."
More than 2,100 sites from 22 countries around the world were adjudicated in 85 industry categories during this year's competition. Entries were judged on design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use and use of technology. The competition was judged by a team of independent Internet professionals representing a variety of relevant disciplines of Web site development. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.
