WRIS Wins Two 2008 WebAwards
September 23, 2008 CLEVELAND, September 23, 2008 - WRIS, Inc., a web design and development firm located in Warrensville Heights, received two Standard of Excellence awards in the Web Marketing Association's twelfth annual WebAward Competition for website development. Beyond Motherhood (www.beyondmotherhood.com), won in the Employment category and STUN Golf (www.stungolf.com), won in the Fashion category. To date, WRIS has won twelve WebAwards with 2008 marking the sixth consecutive year of wins.
The first award was for the website WRIS developed for Beyond Motherhood, an online job board for stay-at-home moms looking for flexible work opportunities. This niche job board was designed and developed to connect employers with this educated, experienced, yet “untapped” workforce. This stylish and intuitive website includes account setup for employers and job applicants as well as a sophisticated searchable job database. A judge from the WebAward competition said, “A clean layout and simple forms make the navigation and processing of personal data within the site quick and easy.” Another judge “liked that the site is divided for employers and applicants right on the home page,” saying, “It gives the site a sense of unity.”
The second award was for the site WRIS developed for STUN Golf, a line of trendy and fashionable golf apparel that is catching the eye of many professional athletes as an alternative to traditional golf attire. Their new, edgy website was designed to showcase and sell their stylish clothing. The site features a secure online shopping cart as well as a step-by-step “Build Your Own Pants” tool that allows visitors to create custom pants by choosing from a variety of fabrics and accents. A flashy movie on the home page and an interactive “Who’s Rockin’ STUN” section help convey the feeling of the brand and feature many fashion-forward athletes who have already added STUN to their wardrobes. A judge from the WebAward competition said, “Great site design, easy to navigate, easy buying process and the Build Your Own section is great – very easy to use.”
Founded by the Web Marketing Association in 1997, the WebAwards is the standards-defining competition that sets industry benchmarks based on the seven criteria of a successful website: design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use and use of technology. Thousands of sites were adjudicated in 96 industry categories during this year's competition. The competition was judged by a team of independent Internet professionals representing a variety of relevant disciplines of Web site development. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.
The goal of the WebAwards is to provide a forum to recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective websites on the Internet today. Beyond validation, entrants benefit from a website assessment by a professional judging panel, which provides specific feedback on how each site ranks against standards of excellence.
